A Historic Preservationist's
Dream...
...in this circa 1854 two-story home built in the
Carpenter Gothic Style. Offered for sale by these second owners,
this home was in the same family for over 100 years. Located
about 2 blocks from downtown Ithaca and the bus line, this home
enjoys a great South Hill location on a low-traffic street. There
is a mixture of single family homes and duplexes on this block.
This home also boasts one of the largest yards on the block.
It also had large rooms throughout as well as wood floors. There
are floor-to ceiling windows in the front parlor (currently being
used as a main level bedroom). The bath is also on the main level,
off the large kitchen. Two staircases are featured in this home,
one leads to an unfinished attic space which could easily become
the 5th bedroom.
In addition to the front parlor and kitchen, there is a formal
dining room, family room and laundry room on the main floor.
Upstairs there is another main room, being used as another family
room, a smaller bedroom (a nursery room) and a front bedroom
or office. The fourth bedroom is also off this centralized second
floor family room which needs finishing to be used as a bedroom.
There is a full basement with tall ceilings and a walk-out
access to backyard. Many updates done to the house including
newer Lennox forced air furnace, newer water heater, kitchen
appliances, lighting and wiring on main floor, insulation and
paint, retaining wall in large backyard and more.
Two off-street parking spaces located to the west of the house.
There are great city views, particularly night views of West
Hill.
